As soon as Fr Charles received our first instalment of funds, he set out to organise for the materials to be purchased and delivered to the school. They struggled with rampant daily inflation and Fr Charles had to move quickly, often going to the shops several times a day, comparing prices and negotiating the best possible deals. When the materials were delivered to the school, some older students were more than glad to help out. Possibly being let off lessons for the afternoon was also an incentive.
Even from a distance, we could perceive the buzz that the building works were causing in the school and whole community. Even Jo's auntie, that lives near Kampala (which is about 5 hours drive) heard about it and was happy to be helping us with the delivery of books. Currently, in very testing times, builders were thankful for the work and literally, slept (on site), on the job!
