Encouraging a community
Auntie Agnes School is a Catholic school in Uganda that has had a fair share of troubles in the last few years. The founder of the school, Auntie Agnes was a much loved member of the community in Mitete, a small and remote place in southeast Uganda . Because her school was founded and built with much love, dedication, and the grace of God no doubt, it became a beacon of hope and pride in the region. Sadly, in 2018 after Auntie Agnes sudden passing the school not only lost their beloved founder but also their chief fundraiser. Jo and I founded this charity that aims to encourage the community by supporting the school in a very tangible way.
Over the last three years we have fund raised for projects at the school and it is incredible how far a little money goes over there and the difference we can make with what we have spare!
Our Mission is centred on Education and Missionary of the Catholic Faith.

HOW WE HELP
REFURBISHMENT OF BUILDINGS
In 2019, we fundraised to refurbish the dormitories and build the guards hut by the main gate. We have painted and restored the classrooms.
SUPPORTING THE TEACHERS AND NON TEACHING STAFF
During the pandemic we managed to pay staff, which had not been paid since because the government ordered that all schools should close due to Covid and low vaccination rates.
BUILDING A LIBRARY
Up until now, the school has never had a place where the children can read different books
Because of our successful fundraising in June 2022 and thanks to the whole community that supported this cause, we have started our biggest challenge yet, the building of much needed toilets. There was one toilet for nearly 700 pupils at the school with no girl/boy designated lavatories or private shower facilities for boarders. The work started in earnest and was completed within 6 weeks!
